The door to Derker's dorm creaked open, and he walked in and threw his keys on the counter. His dorm was abnormally clean for a college student; each dish perfectly washed, the counter spotless, and his clothes in the closet, all ironed and hung perfectly. It looked as if there was a maid, and he was in a hotel room rather than a college dorm. He set his bag down on the table and lifted his laptop out of it.
No new messages... Derker sighed and wondered why Marc and Ralphie hadn't written yet. He missed his family. He missed his house. He moved out here to get a new life, but he was still missing his old one. Quickly, he checked his phone. No phone calls. With one last grain of hope, he traveled down to check his mail.
Nothing, He sighed. But with a nice deep breath, he straightened his shoulders, forced his good humored smile, and headed back up to his dorm with a less-than-satisfied walk. He pounded back into his apartment, and threw the useless mail onto the counter. He immediately lost his composure when he was out of the sight of others.
Passing back and forth with one hand clutching the other wrist behind his back, he sighed and thought to himself. I just want my old life back. I want to see my friends. I don't even care if it means going back to my old self. I want to go back to Canada and see my family, and see my best friends. He sighed, stopped walking, and leaned his forehead against the wall. Lightly, he hit his head against it multiple times, the turned and leaned against the wall to face his dorm.
Emitting a low growl, Derker allowed it to turn into an angry yell that lasted several seconds. He shut his mouth abruptly and slid down to the ground. After another round of deep breaths, he allowed his head to fall onto his knees and began to cool down. Word Count 338

Xak had only been living at Carolina Beach for about 3 days. In that time, he had enrolled in his classes and had all his belongings shoved into his tiny hotel room. The college’s housing office made him wait a few days before he could get his dorm room because someone was still moving out of it. The three days couldn’t take long enough; he hated the crammed small space in the hotel room, not that he spent much time indoors anyway.
He slowly packed up each box and shoved them into the smaller sized moving truck he had rented for the day and drove off toward the dorms, happy to leave the small hotel room behind. All he could hope was for a large room at the college housing. It took quite some time, must have been a few hours, to move each of the boxes up to his new room. It wasn’t that he had much stuff, but after all, he was moving everything by himself.
The day had to be getting close to being over by the time he had finished unpacking most of his necessities, figuring the rest of the stuff could wait for later. He sat down in his window seat and began to sketch the scenery around him, which mainly consisted of the beach with a few trees and the pier. He rather enjoyed the silence, as he wasn’t much of a large crowd person. He silence couldn’t have lasted forever, and it didn’t. Not too long after he had started, he heard banging from the other side of the wall to his dorm, and a few yells. Now curious, he lightly set his things on the window bench before getting up. Walking out of his dorm, he knocked on the door next to his, to see if anything was wrong, and if not, maybe finally meet someone in this new torn.
Xak’s hand hit against the door and he had no idea what to expect.
"This is me talking to you."
so you better listen when i talk to you! haha kidding of course.

Derker lifted his head to a fist pounding on the front door. He sighed, stood up, and collected himself. Shoulders back, get off the dust, hold your head high. You're fine. Stop overreacting. Slowly, he made his way to his door. With another deep breath, his hand twisted the nob, a good humored smile appeared on his face, and the door swung open.
Derker froze. For a good minute or so, he appeared as a sculpture in the doorway. Slowly, the smile faded off of his face and his eyes widened to a surprised, slightly terrified expression. He took two smooth steps backward and stood stationary, the same expression as stone on his face.
"What are you doing here?" He finally managed to speak, his voice quiet. Finally, he turned his back, took a few steps further into his dorm room, and flashed back around. "What the hell are you doing here?" he yelled, whipping back around to face Xak. His facial expression morphed into a desperate look. Why is this happening to me?
Xak didn't look like he had changed a bit. He looked exactly the same; albeit slightly taller. But he was the last person that Derker was hoping to see. He missed his old life, but he left Toronto so that he could get away from the people who gave him stress. People like Xak. He stood, bl inkling lamely, staring at his only ex-boyfriend. Xak couldn’t have even imagined seeing Derker of all people on the other side of the door. He was someone from years back in his past, and honestly, someone he never thought he would see again. He definitely wouldn’t forget Derker, because he was the only straight boy Xak dated in his existence in the world. But as the door swung open, Derker was in fact standing on the other side.
As the other boy stood frozen in place, Xak titled his head looking at him curiously, almost examining him to make sure it was the right person. He looked like Derker, with the blue eyes, huge height, everything. He was at a loss of words and thoughts. He was blank because he never really prepared himself for something like this happening. It was never one of the scenarios that played repeatedly in his mind.
’What the hell are you doing here?’ Xak chuckled at the words. ”I should be asking you the same thing,” he replied, still unsure as to how he got stuck rooming next to his straight ex-boyfriend. He watched as Derker paced a bit, and Xak stood still in the doorway.
He was contemplating walking away or staying to talk to him for a moment. He wasn’t quite sure how the two had left of so many years ago. Both had to have changed in the last 5 or so years. But with the two’s first encounter of each other, he couldn’t imagine Derker was very pleased to have Xak in his presence. ”Well this is…um…awkward, to say the least,” he mumbled to himself under his breath. He twiddled his thumbs as he looked back over at Derker, blinking every so often.
Xak wasn’t sure how this happened. The two could have moved anywhere in the world, and they both ended up in a rather small beach town, in the same university, and in dorms side by side.

Derker narrowed his eyes at the familiar boy standing at his door. He stood still again, contemplating how to react. With no idea about how he should be feeling, all he could understand was that he was angry. He remembered Xak all to well- and even more, he remembered all that had happened with them. His face turned pale at the thought of it.
"Ask me that? I've been here for three months." Derker narrowed his eyes, frustrated, though unsure of the reason. "To get away from..." he looked Xak up and down, trying to understand how to phrase what he was attempting to say. He got a disgusted look on his face. "everyone." he finally concluded, though it didn't sound incredibly intelligent. Finally, he sighed, calmed down slightly, and closed his eyes for a moment. "Come in if you must." He said, slightly reluctantly, as he turned and walked to lean on his counter.
Derker snickered. "That's a very large understatement." he stated bitterly. He pursed his lips and tapped his foot for a moment. "Well..." after a moment, he raised his eyebrow- another ambiguous expression on his face to match the emotion he was feeling. He moved his hand in a circle impatiently, prompting Xak to say something. "Well?" a rude, low voice escaped Derker's lips- one he knew only too well. "What do you want?" he sighed.
In a fit of rage, Derker kicked the floor with the toe of this shoe. I'm cursed. The universe hates me. Word Count 251

Xak couldn’t quite understand as to why Derker was so unhappy at the moment. Sure, this was awkward for Xak as well, but that wasn’t something to be so upset over. Derker had made it quite clear that Xak wasn’t wanted at the moment, but he was only hoping he’d calm down after some time. It was sort of exciting for Xak that the two ended up as neighbors after not speaking for years.
Xak sort of tuned out his ramblings. He knew he was upset and obviously now complaining about something that was irrelevant to him being direct pissed at him. His face formed a very confused expression toward Derker. Why exactly did he tell him to come in, while Xak practically feared for his life? He followed him inside, though he wasn’t quite sure if that was a good or bad choice, so far it hadn’t been looking too great.
Well? What do you want? Xak shrugged in response. He had only come over to introduce himself and hopefully meet someone. And of course, it didn’t turn out this way. This new person had been was a ghost from his past, one he didn’t really need to revisit. But since he was there, and as optimistic as he was, he wanted to make the best of it.
Finding Derker’s fit very amusing, Xak’s mind started scheming. Why not revisit the past, and maybe get a good chuckle out of it? A smirk formed across his lips. He took a step toward Derker before quickly kissing his lips. He pulled back, grinning mischievously at the other boy. It wasn’t that he had a real reason behind kissing him besides to get a good laugh or two out of his reaction. On top of that, he didn’t mind locking lips with the rather attractive boy standing in front of him.
”Why are you straight again, exactly?” Xak asked, letting out a soft chuckle from his lips. ”And don’t pretend you didn’t enjoy that. I’m just helping your new year’s resolution from, what is it now…five years ago?”

As Xak came into the room, Derker could tell that he was afraid he was going to get hurt. Derker ground his teeth and clenched his fists for a moment. Finally, he slammed his fists down on the counter and dropped both hands limply by his side. After allowing himself to completely relax, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath. "Dammit." his voice was quiet when he spoke. He opened his eyes and looked straight into the boy's in front of him. "I'm not going to hurt you Xak." he admitted with another deep breath. After another long pause, he said even softer; "Sorry."
Derker mirrored Xak's shrug. Why shod he be expecting something? It's not Lek Xak had stalked him; they just happened to be in the same place at the same time. "You appeared at an inconvenient moment for me." He needed to stop antagonizing people that were doing nothing to him. It wasn't this boy's fault that he was having a bad day... or month... And he had not right to treat him like it was. With this thought, Derker lost all of his anger and strength. Finally, he was calm.
Derker managed to appreciate the fact that Xak could take his rage fairly well. He was beginning to accept that fact that someone from his past had reappeared, and beginning to be alright with it... Until Xak kissed him. Derker was too dumbfounded to move. He just stood, blinking, with a very odd look on his face, looking somewhere off into the distance. After his brain had begun to work again, his eyes flipped to Xak. "What... The... Hell?!" He finally managed. "Why would I have enjoyed that" He asked bitterly, a dry laugh accompanying his speech. "What the hell?" he repeated. "New years resolution! Good god almighty, Xak! Six years ago! This may be an incredibly far fetched idea, but people change after half of a decade."
